How to Switch Heating Oil and Propane Providers in Fairfield County, CT

March 2016

There are close to 200 oil delivery companies throughout the state of Connecticut, and more than 60 of them are in Fairfield County. This means there are plenty of oil delivery choices out there for our local residents. Additionally, oil prices are at the lowest we’ve seen in years. It’s certainly a buyer’s market, but not all customers are whistling a happy tune. We’ve gotten several calls lately from people who are annoyed with their current propane or heating oil delivery service because they’re not providing…SERVICE, or at least not the customer service they’re looking for.

YOUR NEW PROVIDER WILL CANCEL FOR YOU

These days, there’s absolutely no reason to stay with an oil provider you’re unhappy with. As we said above, there are plenty of other companies to choose from - we hope you choose Comfort King. What you need to know is that it’s actually not hard to switch your delivery service. A reputable energy provider will take care of all the legwork for you. For example, if you call Comfort King and tell us you want to switch to our services, we immediately send a cancellation letter to your last provider. We handle the return of a propane tank – if it was leased – and replace it with our own, and we come out to look at your system within the week to make sure everything is in good order – all at no charge.

DEMAND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Now that heating oil and propane costs are lower, customers aren’t necessarily choosing providers based on price alone. They’re looking at customer service, and frankly, some people are fed up. Some companies are sneaking in extra charges such as charging a higher rate for using a credit card vs. COD or treating those COD households as priority customers by servicing them first before other clients. Customers should have the right to equal customer service, regardless of their form of payment.

Your energy supplier should be available to you in case of an emergency 24/7/365. If you’re having an issue, you don’t want to be stuck without heat, especially in these cold winter months.

If you feel you’re not getting the customer service you deserve, and you want to switch your heating oil or propane delivery service, the following are questions you should ask when choosing a new company.

QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK POTENTIAL OIL DELIVERY COMPANYS

•    Do you charge installation or termination fees?
•    Do I need to buy a minimum amount?
•    Is the quoted delivery price a special introductory price? Will it go up?
•    Do you expect cash on delivery (COD)?
•    Will you match or beat competitor’s pricing?
•    Do you offer automatic delivery?
•    Is there a budget plan available for spreading heating costs over the entire year?
•    Are you available after business hours in case of an emergency?
